We are instructed to advise on the drafting of new legislation which would incorporate the body of international law and principles on the protection of the environment. The project is framed as an “Environmental Rights Bill” to provide rights in domestic law to uphold environmental standards and obligations in a similar fashion human rights as provided by the Human Rights Act.

The matter involves considering the large body of relevant international law and how this can be incorporated in domestic law and how it would interact with our existing domestic environmental regime. The matter will involve the drafting of legislation, with the outcome to serve as a campaigning tool for our client to to encourage future governments to enact such legislation and uphold environmental standards.
